12/7/2023 0 Comments Yahoo photos searchIf you use Google Chrome as your primary browser, the easiest way to complete a reverse image search is through Google Images. Method 1: Google Images From a Desktop Computer That way, you can make decisions about whether or not it’s worthwhile to send a cease-and-desist letter to those websites and if you need to get a lawyer involved. By conducting a reverse image search, you can step back into the driver’s seat, finding where the images have ended up. But what if you’re hit with an amazing job offer from a person you’ve never heard of before, or receive a friend request from someone who looks familiar, but you’re not quite sure why? A quick reverse image search of the person’s profile picture will alert you to any other alternate accounts-potentially with different names if the image was stolen-that may be using the same photo.ģ️⃣ To find unauthorized uses of your photos: When it comes to images, copyrights only go so far-plenty of websites will use a photographer’s work without permission even if it’s illegal. Google, meanwhile, has yet to improve much on its image search product.īy providing more tools on the image preview page that cut down on back-and-forth navigational clicking, Yahoo has injected some subtle (but successful) innovation into the otherwise bland image search market.2️⃣ To find out if people are really who they say they are: If you’ve been on Facebook or LinkedIn for years, chances are you’ve received some sort of spammy message. Microsoft's Live Search has provided a similar row of results thumbnails down the left side of image preview pages, though Yahoo's approach arguably has a better style and UI. An expandable area reveals filtering options like image sizes (which have been available in the past in other forms), color (black-and-white photos versus color), and the option to restrict photos from Flickr.Īltogether, the improvements are designed to make you more efficient when searching for images, though Yahoo is not the first major player to try and improve its image search product to steal search share away from Google. However, we have noticed what appear to be new filters available below the search box on the image results page. Not much else is new in the rest of Yahoo's image search product, according to the company's official blog post on the improvements. The image preview page also features a Yahoo search box with "search assistance," Yahoo's version of suggestions, to help you figure out the term or phrase you're looking for. Clicking one of these related search thumbnails displays a new search results page, and the cycle can begin anew. For instance, we searched for "Italy," so related searches include France, Rome, Spain, and Paris. The related-searches row below More Results displays one thumbnail for each related term. Click a thumbnail and the new page loads below, and the preview area on the left of the frame also updates. The More Results row is quite useful, as it allows users to scroll through more images from the previous results page without having to navigate back. On the right of Yahoo's new image preview frame, which features a dark gray aesthetic to better separate it from the actual page being previewed, are two rows: one for "More Results" and another that displays thumbnails for related searches. Now that area is split between a photo thumbnail and basic metadata (dimensions, file size, copyright notice) on the left, and a More Results area on the right, which is really the focus of Yahoo's improvements to image search. Previously, Yahoo displayed a thumbnail of the image in a frame at the top of its page. The move is not a revolution in image search, but rather a welcome evolution that makes Yahoo's image search more useful.Īs you can see in the screenshot above, the focus of this redesign is solely on the preview page, displayed when you click through to an image result to view the site it came from. Yahoo has redesigned its image search preview page with a handful of new tools for sifting through similar images while viewing a single result.
